Exceptional athletes compete at jail

ONTARIO, CANADA - Carmelo Pugliese walked through the front doors of Collins Bay Institution last year and was nervous. That changed minutes after the Cornwall man entered the yard of the medium-security prison.

He was there for the Exceptional People's Olympiad, an event that gives those with special needs a chance to compete, while also giving inmates at the institution an opportunity to do some community service.

"When I did my first event, I got the jitters out," said Pugliese, who came this year as part of a contingent from Brockville. Read more.
